Marketing Automation Specialist
Location: Raleigh, NC or Remote / Full-Time

The Marketing Automation Specialist (Email) is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing automated email flows that nurture leads, engage customers, and drive conversions across client accounts. This person blends technical ability with strategic thinking—leveraging segmentation, workflows, and platform capabilities to deliver the right message to the right audience at the right time. While fluency in HTML is highly preferred, it is not required; candidates should be comfortable working within email platforms and adjusting templates as needed. They think in terms of performance, scalability, and continuous improvement, with a bias toward data-backed decisions and efficiency.
• Develop and manage lifecycle email automations, including welcome flows, re-engagement campaigns, post-purchase sequences, and retention journeys.
• Build and optimize workflows that nurture leads and increase customer lifetime value across multiple clients.
• Implement segmentation strategies to deliver relevant content and personalized experiences on a scale.
• Manage campaign setup, mapping, testing, and deployment within major automation platforms.
• Monitor performance metrics and use insights to improve automation logic, timing, and targeting.
• Collaborate with Strategists, Designers, and Developers to ensure automation aligns with messaging, UX, and deliverability best practices.
• Maintain organization across multiple workflows, launch schedules, and audience segments.
• Ensure all automations support client growth objectives related to retention, conversions, and revenue per subscriber.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure proper integration, tracking, and data syncing across tools.
• Iterate on workflows and create playbooks for scalable, repeatable automation strategies.
• Stay current on platform capabilities, channel trends, and new automation opportunities.
• Conduct A/B tests on timing, subject lines, triggers, and content to increase performance.
• Maintain quality control and documentation across campaigns and lifecycle programs.
• Strong understanding of email automation platforms and lifecycle marketing strategy.
• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS preferred for email development and template troubleshooting.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance data and act on insights.
• Systems-oriented thinker with experience managing workflows, integrations, and segmentation logic.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Expert in CRM data, triggers, tags, and audience rules.

Desired Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of experience in email marketing, CRM automation, or lifecycle marketing.
• Hands-on experience building automated email journeys in major ESPs/marketing automation platforms such as Klaviyo and Hubspot.
• Prior experience in eCommerce, retention marketing, or direct-to-consumer environments is a plus.
